There are a lot of games with this same game play mechanic – put cards in and pick winners. But Dixit is very different from Apples to Apples. First, in Apples to Apples, the judge simply picks the card they think best matches the word. Only 1 person gets a point. In Dixit, there’s not a judge to pick a winning card on their whim. Everyone can score and it’s up to their own choices. Secondly, it’s all about imagination and creativity. You don’t simply take cards with limited, set words. Dixit is wide open.
Now this isn’t to say that we don’t like Apples to Apples – because we do like it and depending on the people we’re playing with Apples to Apples may be the best choice for the occasion. But Dixit brings a whole different vibe.

The art and the storytelling component seem really cool but I’m not sure that’s enough to convince her it plays any differently. Any advice?
