A South Carolina woman was shot and killed after an altercation with a stranger in a grocery store parking lot on Valentine’s Day. Tyler Borys said his wife, Alexandria Cress Borys, 26, was loading groceries into her car at a Kroger supermarket in Irmo, South Carolina, when she got into an argument with a woman she didn’t know, Tyler Borys said, according to FOX 57 Columbia. After the altercation, the stranger, later identified by Irmo police as 23-year-old Christina Harrison, allegedly drew a gun and shot Boris in the back. The couple’s children, a two-year-old and a toddler, were in the car when she was shot.
The Ilmore Police Department said the incident happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers soon arrived on the scene and pronounced Borys dead. After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, Irmo police said investigators learned the two women did not know each other and that they had an altercation prior to the shooting. It’s unclear what led to the altercation or what the two women were arguing about.
“Unfortunately, this was a situation where temper tantrums and someone vented their anger. A hasty decision that impacted the lives of two families and countless others who witnessed this tragic event.” Urmo Police Chief Bobby Dale said on his face The book said. “Senseless is the only word I can think of to describe what happened today.”
Harrison initially fled the parking lot, but called to report it around 5:30 p.m. She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday evening. Jail records show Harrison was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The New York Post reported that Harrison was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, but her personal attorney abandoned the hearing. Taylor said his wife died just six days after their brother Brandon died from a gunshot wound. He told local news outlets that Alexander, who worked as a beautician and attended nursing school, was “the nicest woman anyone could ask for” and “an amazing mother.”
