Arcadia High School is a public high school located in Arcadia, California. It is part of the Arcadia-Del Mar Joint Union High School District. Arcadia High School is known for its rich history, dedicated faculty and prestigious alumni. Some of the most notable alumni include film director Guillermo del Toro, actress Rita Moreno and Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kendall. The school offers many AP courses and has recently launched a new teaching style that incorporates technology into the classroom.
In 1961, Arcadia High School became the first high school in California to offer computer science as a course. By 2017, the school had over 5,000 students; this made it one of the largest high schools in the United States. Many of the students at Arcadia High School come from low income neighborhoods and are minorities. Thanks to these factors, the student body is highly diverse and represents many different cultures. As a result, students from all backgrounds find it easy to thrive at Arcadia High School.
