Chase Tripp joined the Catawba Academy athletic team in July 2020 as Director of Athletic Performance. He came to Catawba after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at West Georgia University since 2015.
While at West Georgia, Tripp worked primarily in baseball, softball and men’s basketball, programming and implementing training and conditioning programs. He also assists the Chief Strength and Conditioning Coach with all football programs and workouts.
Tripp’s responsibilities include supervising student-athletes in the weight room and implementing proper weightlifting and training techniques. He helps coach NFL Combine student-athletes and prepare for Pro Day. Tripp oversees two research assistants and the training and exercise programs for these sports.
Tripp helps provide athletes with nutritional plans that meet their specific goals and communicates with athletic trainers regarding athlete injuries and recovery. He also helped plan all football lift sets and organized lift times for all sports.
During his time at West Georgia, the Wolves won two regional football championships, a Gulf South basketball championship and had a 42-win baseball season in 2016. UWG left several football players in the NFL and CFL, basketball players who played professionally overseas, and two baseball players who were drafted from MLB during Tripp’s tenure.
As a research assistant in 2014-15, Tripp played women’s basketball-volleyball, women’s tennis and women’s track and field in addition to baseball and men’s basketball.
Tripp earned a BA in Sports Management with a minor in Mass Communication from West Georgia State in 2014. In 2016, he earned a Master of Education in Professional Counseling: Collegiate Affairs.
