Barbieux stated during his testimony that he took the picture because he was a huge fan of XXXTENTACION. Barbieux answered, “I wanted a picture to remind me forever because I’m such a great fan of his. Babier acknowledged that, prior to the incident, he briefly crossed paths with rapper Hope as he was leaving a motorbike shop but that his request for a photo was declined. Barbieux later affirmed under cross-examination by the defense that he had inspected the body and discovered the rapper dead. Barbieux was then asked by defense attorney Mauricio Padilla if he had been paid for the photograph, to which he responded, “No.” In South Florida, outside RIVA Motorsports, XXXTENTACION was allegedly robbed and killed by Michael Boatwright, Derry Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome. Boatwright is also accused of having shot Newsome. Robert Allen, who participated in the deadly shooting as well, entered a guilty plea in August of last year and is now cooperating with the prosecution in an effort to receive a lesser sentence.
“[Allen] entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of second-degree murder and armed robbery. Co-accused witnesses,” claimed Jim Lewis, Allen’s lawyer. “Mr. Allen has played a far smaller role than the other three and has been considered a prospective witness for the state to use in the case,” says the statement.
The three accused defendants could get a life sentence if found guilty. Police think Boatwright was the perpetrator who shot and killed XXXTENTACION on June 18, 2018, during an armed robbery. $50,000 that was hidden in a Louis Vuitton bag that X had just withdrew was stolen.
