Jack Kinnywan, a young player for Collingwood, has been suspended by the AFL after confessing to using prohibited substances. The 20-year-old was found guilty of disorderly conduct in January for using an illicit narcotic, and as a result, will miss the first two rounds of the upcoming 2023 season. Kiniwan acknowledged utilizing the unidentified substance at a hotel bathroom cubicle in Torquay and expressed his “sad disappointment in himself.”
After Collingwood’s preseason training camp in Lorne, Victoria, the event took place. “I feel like I let down the club, 100,000 people, 44 of my closest friends. Kimiwan expressed her regret and apology to 7News. Kiniwan denied that mental health problems were a factor and attributed the choice to “a few drinks and a lack of judgment at the moment.”
He claimed he had no problems and that they were uncommon. He omitted saying whether or not he had ever used narcotics. This shocking information follows a vision of Ginnivan in the restroom.
I don’t think someone is going to pat me when I use the restroom, he remarked.
It’s obvious that this is a private space, therefore I can imagine how uncomfortable it would be if someone was discovered in the restroom. In a statement released today, the AFL confirmed Ginnivan’s punishment, which included a $5,000 fine and a two-and-one-game suspension. Also, he won’t be able to participate in any Pies practices or VFL trials while he is suspended.
Collingwood issued a statement saying they were “extremely unhappy” but will still support Kinnywan.
The statement read, “As a club, we are extremely disappointed to have witnessed Jack Kiniwan’s hallucinations of illegal drug usage.” “The image was taken after the team’s preseason training camp in January by a member of the public and released to the media in recent days.
We expect everyone at our club to uphold the highest standards as a representative of the larger Collingwood community, our members, supporters, and corporate partners. All players and staff are continuously taught on appropriate behavior. In order to provide Jack, who accepts his actions, the support and ongoing instruction he needs to continue his journey in Collingwood, we will continue to work closely with him. In his first two seasons, Kimniwan played 28 games. In the most recent year, he has played 23 games, including three finals at Collingwood.
