Earlier this week, it was reported that Jerry Lee Lewis has passed away after news broke out that he is hospitalized for having the flu. However, the reports turn out to be a hoax.
Here is everything you need to know.
Jerry Lee Lewis’s rep reveals the truth
On 26th October, TMZ reported that Jerry Lee Lewis had passed away which whipped the whole internet in frenzy.
However, a spokesperson for Lewis has revealed that the 87-year-old music legend is still alive and kicking.
They said, ‘He’s alive. TMZ reported erroneously off of a bulls**t anonymous tip.’
TMZ on the other hand instantly took the opportunity and removed the original article. Subsequently, they replaced it with a retraction.

The media publication wrote in the article, ‘Jerry Lee Lewis is not dead … as we previously reported.’
Furthermore, the outlet claimed ‘We’re told the rock ‘n’ roll legend is alive, living in Memphis. Earlier today we were told by someone claiming to be Lewis’s rep that he had passed. That turned out not to be the case. TMZ regrets the error.’
The false news about Lewis’ death comes after he caught the flu and was rushed to a hospital. In addition, he was forced to miss his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 16th.

Jerry Lee Lewis’s message after being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame
Jerry Lee Lewis’s social media team took to Instagram to share an acceptance note on behalf of the rock ‘n roll musician.
He said, ‘It is with heartfelt sadness and disappointment that I write to you today from my sick bed, rather than be able to share my thoughts in person.’
Moreover, the note stated, ‘I tried everything I could to build up the strength to come today – I’ve looked forward to it since I found out about it earlier this year. My sincerest apologies to all of you for missing this fine event, but I hope to see you all soon.’

The message went on to mention, ‘To be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame is the highest honor in Country music. Through over 60 years singing music professionally, the country has always been the genre where I felt the most at home – between my fellow artists, the radio, and the industry players — some of them anyway.’
Meanwhile, Lewis’s ‘longtime dear friend’ Kris Kristofferson presented the medallion to the flu-stricken pioneer in the hospital.
