In a Twitter post on Saturday night, the family said: “It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we announce the news that our beloved father Red Robinson passed away at 8.15am this morning following a short illness. Kay Kellie and Kellie Robinson said we were delighted to share his final moments with him and his brother Bill was there, which made it extra special.

“Most people know our dad as a rock DJ, TV personality, ad agency owner, voice actor, or through his charity work. He was larger than life in many ways, but to us he was a A devoted father and grandfather, a loving husband to our late mother Carol, and a devoted friend to all.”
“Ryder’s departure leaves a huge hole in our lives and in the lives of everyone he touched on radio, television, music and entertainment.”
His family said: “We can’t think of a better way to sum up Dad’s life than with the lyrics to one of his favorite Elvis songs, If I Could Dream: ‘In the dark there’s a candle waving… …and when I can do it and think. ‘I can talk, I can stand, I can walk…I can dream, oh please make my dreams come true…now.”
Red retired in 2017 from his 64-year broadcast career.
