BJ’s Wholesale Club has submitted plans for a 103,004-square-foot store on and around the RiverGate Mall in Goodlettsville.
The plans for BJ’s Wholesale Club follow a separate concept, mixed-use development on the former Macy’s campus at RiverGate Mall, which has been remodeled and developed in recent months. What we know:
BJ’s Wholesale Club is geared toward members and has been described as a concept similar to Sam’s Club and Costco. BJ’s Wholesale Club has 231 locations in 18 states, according to information on the company’s website. BJs’ proposed site plan for 1000 Rivergate Parkway is located between Vietnam Veterans Drive and the former Sears Building. Goodlettsville city manager Tim Ellis said part of the building sits on vacant land and part sits on the mall’s existing lot.
BJ’s wholesale club plan “can serve as an important catalyst for the regeneration of the RiverGate/Rivergate Parkway/Gallatin Road area,” Ellis said in an email. BJ’s Wholesale Club recently received approval to open a new store on Adams Lane, Mt Juliet.
