It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ron on Tuesday, March 6, 2023 at Toronto General Hospital. Ron was the fourth child of George Leslie Rich and Peggy Muriel Rich. He is survived by his sister, Teresa Marie Leach.
Ron grew up in a family filled with music, art, literature and good food. He graduated from Sir Oliver Mowat High School in 1971, and when he planned to enter the arts program at Ryerson University, his application was mysteriously misplaced.
This delightful mistake led to a job as a film and television agent at The Characters Talent Agency and ignited a lifelong passion. He has taught, directed, written, and throughout his career he has reached the pinnacle of his career as a renowned Canadian casting director. He was actively involved in it until he left.
During his lifetime, he fulfilled his ambition to travel extensively and visit 3 of the 7 continents. He has a phenomenal singing voice – he sang at his sister’s wedding as a young boy and is known in his circle as a legendary chef.
He is also an avid supporter of Friends for Life, a 7-year cycling rally from Toronto to Montreal to help people living with HIV and AIDS.
