John Whaite, known for winning season 3 of The Great British Bake Off and runner-up in season 19 of Strictly Come Dancing, launched his OnlyF page in August 2022.

Shortly after the announcement, White clarified on Instagram that he would not be sharing any sexual content on OnlyF. Instead, he wants to publish “workout videos” and “bolder fitness progress posts” that feel “more appropriate in areas where age restrictions are better managed.”

But this week, a US investigator told BBC News that child abuse images still occasionally “slipped away” on OnlyF. This prompted White to reply to the following post on Instagram:

“I have decided to close my account after today’s news that users of the OnlyF platform still have the ability to exploit young children. While these claims have not been substantiated/refuted, I cannot ethically continue to use a platform that has been so heavily accused of exploitation. Children are despicable and only a company like OnlyF can ensure they have state-of-the-art filtering systems in place to prevent and report such activity.”

“I don’t put profits over social causes. Child exploitation is abhorrent and must stop. I cannot continue to use OnlyFans until it is clear that there is no possibility of child exploitation on the platform.”

In response to the BBC News report, OnlyF CEO Amrapali Gan released a statement that read:

“We are actively cooperating with law enforcement. If someone wrongly uploads illegal content, we will report it. We are truly the safest and most inclusive social media platform.”
